Do you have problems with Christmas? I don’t really. I love Christmas for it seems to remind me of the things in my life that are really important and I stop to enjoy them. I stop… and focus on what is real and good and loving and I try to enjoy it on purpose. Do you struggle with enjoying Christmas? Maybe it is simply a matter of perspective. What if we just tweaked our focus just a bit? What if you lived this Christmas as if it is your Last Christmas? That is what I want to look at this Christmas over the next couple of Sundays. And I want to challenge you to live this Christmas as if it is Christmas Last!
Have you lived like this is Christmas Last for you? This could be Christmas Last for any of us. No one is guaranteed the next breath, yet we all live like we have many Christmases and many days and months and years ahead of us. That is why we get in the ruts that cause us to truly begin to dread life or to get bored with life and not appreciate what is sitting well within our control, the great gift that God has given us as it is so aptly named – The Present. What are you doing with The Present? Is it sitting unwrapped under the tree of your rush about life? Let’s unwrap that fantastic gift that God has wrapped for each of us and see how a Christmas Last perspective will allow us to enjoy His Present, the Present.
We would be remiss if we were to skip by a Christmas Last Perspective without thinking about what a Christmas Last perspective truly means. It means that Time is truly a precious commodity. Christmas Last gets me thinking very much about God and His relationship with me. He created me because He loved me. He loved me so much that He gave me a Free Will. Without the gift of a Free Will, I cannot love or be loved. Love is love because it is freely given and freely accepted and freely returned. As I anticipate living Christmas Last, I must contemplate the love that is offered me by a loving God who created me, and waits for me to accept Him in relationship.
We have much to celebrate from our Christmas Last!, our AmazinG RACE through the One Year Bible and from the year 2008. God has truly blessed us at Ni River COmmunity Church!
